Wow, that’s my job

Land Rover Defender Full Overview

There is usually a feeling of being out with someone new in the long run while we get to know him, and – I like to think – he gets to know us. But for the 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 P400 SE long-range, it didn’t get such luxury. They’ve been thrown into the deep end, gobbling up miles on and off-road. We’ll get to all of the above in due course, but the most unexpected surprise yet is how practical the Defender is.

I know it’s no surprise that a large SUV is roomy. But I spent a year pinning things around the rolling cage MTThe Unlimited Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is long-running, so the utter lack of compromise that Defender brings to the table is refreshing. However, it comes as no surprise that our Land Rover cargo area handles day and road trip tasks with ease; What is surprising is how well it handles the kind of things most people buy a pickup truck to transport.

It all starts in the cargo area. First, open the massive swing gate – while inferior to the split tailgate design like the Toyota Land Cruiser that stopped in America, fortunately can keep itself open in any position – then remove the canvas cargo cover and put it underground, and you’ll find the trunk covered in plastic Durable diamond-coated steel. This plastic looks cheap, but it is very durable and easy to clean. So far it has held up well to pulling cinder blocks, wood, dirt and grit while still looking as good as new.

Things get better when you drop the 60/40 foldable rear bench seat. The rear seat back is covered in the same plastic as the cargo area, and with the rear seats down and our optional front center cannon seat raised to create a seat (usually with the pup riding in the middle, to help complete the picture for you), the Land Rover rivals a regular taxi pickup. from scientifict side. The overall length from the rear of the front seats to the swing gate is 6 feet, and thanks to the enclosed area, the Defender 110 has 78.8 cubic feet of cargo volume.

“WL!” You were thinking, “But how are you going to pull sheets of plywood or something like bedding?” Easy. the surface. The Defender 110’s Expedition roof rack is rated to handle a dynamic load of 370 pounds, about 8 panels of 4-foot-8 plywood. Although the optional deployable roof ladder (currently in a box in my garage awaiting installation) would make loading the roof rack easier, the air suspension did a lot of the lift for me. From the front seats, drop the Defender down into the reach setting (8.6 inches of ground clearance), then drive around in the rear and open the swing gate. You can lower (or raise) the suspension further, reducing the height even more. The only disc point is the ratchet attachment to the load down; Without ties, you need to use soft loops to secure your load, which sometimes requires agility that I don’t have.

So far I haven’t found a job that the Defender 110 can’t handle, but with a busy few months going, I’ll report back if I find otherwise.

Look well! More details?
