Video Reviews for Hyundai Palisade 2023

Hyundai Palisade is a well-reviewed high-end SUV with one of the strongest value propositions. The Palisade and its sister Kia Telluride have dominated the midsize SUV segment since it debuted in the 2020 model year. Although the Palisade remains a compelling choice in its segment, Hyundai is giving the SUV an overhaul for 2023 that offers more interior styling. and refined external, connected additional services, and powerful XRT level.

Hyundai keeps it simple with Palisade trim and options, as it does with all of its models. The Korean automaker has yet to announce the full Palisade lineup for 2023. However, expect the models to be carried over from 2022: SE, SEL, XRT (new), Limited and Calligraphy. Pricing should start in the middle of the $30,000 range and go up to around $50,000.

  • The newly available XRT model is rugged design
  • New bumpers and grille design
  • Updated 12-inch touch screen and additional Hyundai Bluelink features are optional

Hyundai updates the Palisade’s exterior for 2023 with new fenders on both ends and a new grille. Previous models had a trapezoidal grille with zigzag sides, but the new Palisade grille is more square and features interesting grille shapes that are understated at the bottom. The SUV retains the distinctive vertical LED daytime running lights, but they look more prominent and extend up to the headlights.

The new XRT features dark-coloured 20-inch wheels. Like the other XRT models in Hyundai’s catalog, the Palisade picks up a darker exterior trim and a more handsome look.

2023 Hyundai Palisade Interior Dashboard

Hyundai says the Palisade’s interior “combines a sense of relaxation and comfort creating a serene environment with seating for up to eight for family adventures.” Inside, the Palisade gets a new driver’s seat design that helps reduce fatigue, and third-row seats are now available with heated. Buyers can exchange second-row seats for captain’s seats at the cost of the single-passenger seating capacity. However, many parents will find that a separate captain’s chair arrangement creates a portable demilitarized zone among children who cannot keep their hands to themselves.

Every Hyundai Palisade 2023 comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a standard front engine. Hyundai offers All-Wheel Drive (AWD) – brand HTRAC – which offers a towing mode. When the setting is active, the setting forces the transmission to hold lower gears longer, so there are fewer shifts when pulling a heavy load.

The AWD system also features Torque Vectoring to change torque between the front and rear wheels to improve traction and stability. Although it’s a family SUV, the Palisade comes with a Sport mode that sends more torque to the rear wheels. Hyundai says it has tuned the system for different scenarios, such as straight-line acceleration, cornering and hill start.

The 2023 Palisade is too new to be crash-tested, but Hyundai says it has added more standard safety technologies over the outgoing model. So, while we don’t get crash test results yet, the new SUV should perform at least as well as its predecessor. Since the 2022 Hyundai Palisade was awarded a Top Safety Pick + Honors award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), that’s encouraging.

Standard safety equipment is similar to previous SUVs, which means blind spot warning, driver attention warning, automatic emergency braking, and more. Hyundai is adding Intelligent Remote Parking Assistance and Improved Highway Driving Assistant for 2023.

A 12-inch touch screen with navigation is standard on the 2023 Palisade and offers the latest version of Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car technology. Owners can set up multiple driver profiles that are stored in the cloud. The system can have settings for climate control, seat positions, etc., and users can transfer personal files to another Hyundai vehicle with the same technology.

The Palisade has audio controls that allow for hands-free interactions with the climate controls, hatch opening, steering wheel and heated seats, and other vehicle settings. Hyundai says the voice controls also work with maps, weather data, and stock market updates.

Hyundai Palisade is a relative value in its class and carries a premium look and feature set. Still, the SUV has no shortage of superior competitors waiting to falter. They include Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, Subaru Ascent and Toyota Highlander.
