Hudson, North Carolina (June 21, 2022) – Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is now enrolling in several upcoming continuing education and workforce training courses. Here is a timeline:

Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Fall Academy
Caldwell Community and Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Fall 2022 Academy is accepting applications until 12 noon, Friday, July 22. The class meets from August 8 to December 9. Class meeting days and times vary. Scholarships are available to eligible students. Class B Truck Driving
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer Class B truck driving lessons at the Hudson Transportation and Public Services Center, July 12 through August 16. Saturdays. The course teaches proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial vehicle laws and regulations, and basic principles and practices for operating a Class B vehicle. Course work includes motor vehicle laws and regulations, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily records, and defensive driving. The highway driving training exercise and class lectures are used to develop the student’s knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to pass the commercial driver’s license exam and can be employed by commercial trucking companies. Introduction to CAD/CAM
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will present an introduction to the CAD/CAM course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., July 12 through August 4 at the Paul H. Broyhill Center for Advanced Technology. The course offers CAD/CAM with an emphasis on transferring parts engineering from CAD to CAM for CNC-ready software development. Upon completion, students should be able to use CAD/CAM software to produce a CNC program. Students will practice MasterCAM. For more information or to register, call 828-726-2242.

Basic Welding – Watauga High School
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer a core welding class at Watauga High School in Boone on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., August 18 through December 13. The class cost is $182. For more information or to register, call 828-297-3811.

Introduction to residential wiring
Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Polytechnic Campus will present an introduction to residential wiring on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., August 22 through December 14 at J-220. This course introduces electrical trade, electrical circuits, theory and safety, conductors and cables, instrument cases, hand bending, and residential electrical services. Students will learn basic electrical wiring concepts, electrical theory, Ohm’s law, and types of services for residential applications. Class cost $190. Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Polytechnic Campus will present an introduction to HVAC systems Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., August 22 through December 14 at J-232. This course serves as the entry level requirement for all other courses in the HVAC programme. The curriculum focuses on the basic practices of carbon steel tubing, the essential practices of copper and plastic tubing, basic electrical, introduction to heating, cooling and air distribution systems, welding and copper and commercial mathematics. Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Polytechnic Campus will offer Introduction to Plumbing from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, August 23 through December 15 at J-220. The class serves as the entry level requirement for all other courses in the plumbing program. This course introduces basic plumbing tools, materials, and fixtures. Institute of Furniture Technology: Industrial Tailoring
Caldwell Community College and the Institute of Technology Furniture Technology will present an introduction to industrial sewing on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., August 22 through December 14 at J-121 on the Caldwell Campus. Introduction to Industrial Sewing is designed to train students in manufacturing concepts, tooling, safety, and communication skills that will help prepare them for a sanitation career in various manufacturing settings. Emphasis is placed on machine operation, preparation and maintenance, threading, and sewing of straight lines, angles, curves, and blocks. Industrial Maintenance 1
Caldwell Community College and Caldwell Polytechnic Campus will present an introduction to industrial maintenance on Tuesday and Thursday, August 23 through December 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at S-103. This course is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills needed to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment found in a variety of industries. This course is designed for ‘high-professional’ technicians and covers all five main areas of knowledge in industrial maintenance: electrical maintenance, general maintenance, mechanical maintenance, preventive maintenance and welding. Institute of Furniture Technology: Introduction to Upholstery
Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Furniture Technology Institute will present an introduction to furnishings Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., August 29 through December 14 at J-118 on the Caldwell Campus. The course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to become a beginner tutor. In addition, students will learn the soft skills needed for employment. The course includes basic skills, training in furniture and tool manufacturing concepts and safety, and training in employability, communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Continuing Education Workshops for Massage Therapy
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host two continuing education massage therapy workshops at the JE Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir for currently licensed massage therapists to obtain credits to renew their license. Deep Tissue Techniques for Orthopedics will be offered on September 28 from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Open Shoulder will be offered from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on September 29. Founder of imassage, Inc. At Chapel Hill he is the instructor for both workshops. The cost for one day is $250. On both days, the cost is $475. Lunch and refreshments are included. Preparing for the General Contractor Exam
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer an introductory class for the General Contractor Exam from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, September 13 through November 17 at H-207 at Caldwell Campus in Hudson. This 60-hour course prepares students for the General Contractor Licensing Exam. Emphasis is placed on schemes, laws, regulations, job security laws, and workers’ compensation. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for a licensing examination by a NC contractor. The cost of the course is $182. Red Hat Management
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer Red Hat I administration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from September 19 to December 15. An online 12-week format is available with an open lab component. The course covers the basic system administration tasks needed to manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
