Toyota and Lexus have launched a warranty program that provides coverage for up to 10 years for new and used cars.
Under the “Relax” slogan, a one-year warranty is added each time it is serviced at a major Toyota or Lexus dealer. Service costs have not changed from today, and vehicles — including vans and vans — are eligible if they are less than 10 years old or have covered less than 100,000 miles.
Relax replaces both Toyota’s previous 5-year, 100,000-mile new car warranty and Lexus’ 3-year, 60,000-mile warranty. It is extended for one year each time the vehicle is serviced at an authorized Toyota or Lexus dealer.
The scheme applies to all new Toyota and Lexus models and also applies retroactively to models already sold, and vehicles serviced outside of major Toyota and Lexus dealer networks are also eligible, assuming they are repurchased for major or temporary service.
Warranty claims can be made outside the UK as well, assuming the company’s dealer network also participates in the relaxation scheme – Toyota has made it clear that if a vehicle needs corrective work in the south of France for example, the local dealer will be able to authorize that to operate under the relaxation scheme.
The scheme works the same for vehicles with longer service intervals: for example, a Toyota Proace truck has a two-year maintenance schedule, so a two-year warranty has been added each time it is serviced.
Toyota’s previous warranty system, introduced in 2010, remains in effect, with the Relax program beginning at the end of the five-year period.

“The basis for this exceptional level of protection is the fundamental quality, durability and reliability of our vehicles and our commitment to providing customer service first.
“In addition to rewarding existing Toyota owners, the Relax program will also enhance the attractiveness of our vehicles to new customers, whether they are considering buying a new car or a used model.”
