Top 10 Selling Compact SUVs of April 2022: Tata Nixon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, and Hyundai Venue

Only Toyota Urban Cruiser and Renault Kiger saw positive monthly sales growth last month

April saw the monthly sales of the compact SUV segment drop by eight percent. Tata Nexon continued to maintain its lead, followed by the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. These first three models account for nearly 65 percent of monthly sales, with the rest being split over the remaining five models.

  • Tata has sold more than 13,400 units of the Nexon, seeing a six percent drop from March 2022. Its market share has grown well at about 12 percent, posting a six-month sales figure of 12,000 units per month.

  • Maruti Vitara Brezza registered 11,764 units in April, marking a 5 percent decrease. The SUV is just under having 10,000 units per month as a six-month average.

  • Hyundai Venue sales fell from 9,220 units in March to 8,392 units in April, a decline of six percent. It also saw a six percent drop in market share, from about 23 percent.

  • The Kia Sonet ranks fourth on this list, but it’s nearly 3,000 units off the third spot. Kia SUV’s monthly sales and market share are down more than 20 and 5 percent, respectively.

  • Mahindra XUV300’s monthly sales are down five percent, which is just below its six-month average.

  • The Urban Cruiser is one of two small SUVs to report sales growth, Toyota of about 14 percent. Its monthly sales grew by about 500 units.

  • Renault Kiger is another small SUV that has seen growth, but this time by five percent less.

  • Last is the Nissan Magnite, which despite being one of the most affordable cars on this list saw a massive sales loss of 1,000 units, or just over 33 percent, this month.

Summing up, the public sector saw a drop in sales of eight percent, or about 4,500 units.
