Hyundai Creta registered 12,651 units in April 2022 versus 12,463 units during the same period in 2021 with positive volume growth of 1.5% YoY.
In April 2022, Hyundai Creta continued to lead the midsize SUV sales charts with 12,651 units sold versus 12,463 units during the same period in 2021 with positive volume growth of 1.5% YoY. The Kia Seltos finished in second place with sales of 7,506 units versus 8,086 units in April 2021.
This resulted in negative sales growth of 7.1 percent year on year. The Mahindra XUV700 climbed to third place in the top ten list of midsize SUV sales with 4,494 units registered. Since its debut, the XUV700 has been well received among customers. The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was the fourth best-selling midsize SUV in the country last month with 2,922 units registered.
Compared to the same period in 2021 with 2,247 units, a year-on-year sales growth of 30 percent was observed. Mahindra Scorpio had a total of 2,712 units last month versus 3,577 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with sales down 24.1 percent year-over-year. The advertising campaign for the new generation of Scorpios has already begun in India.

It is expected to go on sale next month marking the 20th anniversary since the SUV debuted in 2002. It is expected that the current model will be sold alongside the new model and will certainly help in gaining widespread access. The 2022 Scorpio is getting a host of changes inside and out and will share the powertrain with the XUV700 and Thar.
In the second half of the table, Volkswagen Taigon took sixth place with 2,631 units, ahead of Hyundai Alcazar, Skoda Koshak, Tata Safari and MG Hector. The Taigun is the first VW model to be based on the MQB A0 IN platform with the Virtus set to launch in the coming weeks to boost its lineup.
Alcazar scored 2,422 units while Kochak scored 2,413 units, Safari with 2,071 units and Hector with 1,448 units to round out the top ten.
