This is the perfect date to travel in 2022

Maybe you prefer a package? June is always a happy place to look for discounts – although tour operators set prices lower than in high season. Tui ( – Britain’s largest operator – had already hit the discount button on June 11. Take, for example, a week at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort (Dockside Inn and Suites) in Orlando, Florida. Leave this weekend and get 36 per cent off – £715 per person including flights. Meanwhile, a week at Tui Suneo Tsilivi Admiral in Tsilivi, on the Greek island of Zante, was reduced by 40 per cent on 11 June and currently costs £527 per person. There are plenty of discount holidays to choose from.

If you fancy a smart villa, Simpson Travel ( still has 80 properties available from June 11 or 12 compared to just 35 for the first week in August. June prices are not actively reduced, but they are still significantly lower than the height of summer. Take Villa Chênes, a modern luxury five-bedroom villa with a pool near the beaches of La Tranche sur Mer in Vendée. It costs £3,200 for a week (rent only) from 11 June. But after just four weeks, by comparison, you would have to pay £5,800.

In Corsica, the three-bedroom villa L’Alivu, near the shores of Valenco Bay, is still available for £2,602 for a week from 12 June. By early July, the price had risen to £4,417 – £70 cent more expensive. Then you can’t book it at any price: Like many select properties, it’s sold out for the rest of the summer.

So, I rest my case. June is the golden month of the year, when the clear Mediterranean summer settles in, the sea warms up and the evenings are at their longest and lightest. The resorts come alive but you can still grab a table at a restaurant or find a quiet stretch of beach. And for travelers this year, the most golden moment to head to the airport at that wonderful time of year is the weekend of June 11th.
