RELATED: Guest Asks for Prayers After a Disastrous Day at Disney
While there are plenty of cool and unique experiences to have when visiting the Disney parks, few compare to the level of immersion found in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
With amazing rides and attractions, detailed details and a stunning atmosphere, Star Wars fans will enjoy just as much as guests looking for a good time. However, sometimes things aren’t always “magical” and go wrong, leaving guests with a less than perfect experience.
This was featured on a TikTok shared by @the_hamilyfamily, where they were at an expensive Disneyland location, watch the video below:

As you can see in the video, the guest experience at Saffy’s workshop did not go as planned. Usually, once everyone has built their own lightsaber, everyone in the room is asked to hold the blade handle while they all light up, and a panel opens revealing their new weapon.
Unfortunately, that is what now happened with this special guest as the lightsaber failed to light up. Fortunately the guest seemed to have a good sense of humor about the incident but it was still a bit disappointing, especially when considering the cost of this experience.
Building a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop leads to a whopping $220 for guests but before guests are allowed in, they only get a reservation which might have been difficult to make in the first place.
The workshop has been very popular since it opened as part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge along with attractions such as Rise of the Resistance and Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
More about Saffy’s workshop:
Travel to the Black Spire Outpost, where a group known as the “Gatherers” will lead you to a secret workshop filled with unusual parts, whimsical pieces and miscellaneous memorabilia collected from the far reaches of the galaxy.
Under their supervision, you can build your own lightsaber and bring it to life with the power of the Kuiper Crystals. Beware of builders – you must protect the secret of the shop to avoid detection by the first order!
Once your lightsaber is complete (purchase required!), you’ll be ready to take on amazing new adventures – from the ends of Wild Space to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
Assemble your own lightsaber
Meet one of Savi’s collectors outside his workshop, where you will choose one of the 4 available hilt attributes and you will receive a cloisonne pin to mark your selection. Topics include:
- peace and justice
Snippets salvaged from fallen Jedi temples and wrecked spaceships in these Republic-era designs honor the former guardians of the galaxy.
- power and strength
Originally designed by warriors of the dark side, this style features rumored remnants of a Sith home world and abandoned temples.
- primary nature
This theme embodies strength – the energy created by all living things, such as Brylark trees, Cartusion whalebones, and Rancor teeth.
- Protection and defense
Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and engravings that reconnect users with the ancient source of power.
The Gatherers will now help you identify the heart of your lightsaber—kyber crystal, which is available in red, blue, green or violet.
Next, start assembling the handle – parts will be provided based on your theme and cloisonne pin. Each box of parts includes:
- 1 hit
- 4 sleeves (choice 2)
- 2 emitters (choose 1)
- 2 throat caps (choice 1)
- Two sets of activation panels and keys (choose one set)
When the handle is complete, unused parts will be collected by collectors and returned to Savi stock. These are not included with your lightsaber package.
Finally, The Gatherers will attach your handle to the 31″ lightsaber blade, so you’re ready for whatever the galaxy places on your way!
Have you ever built your own lightsaber?
