Crashes
In the crash Friday, soldiers said the Mazda2 was heading east on West State Road 326.
It was a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was going in the opposite direction behind several vehicles.
FHP officials said the truck attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of it and, as it approached the Mazda2, swerved to the left of the road.
Officials said the Mazda2 swerved to the right of the road and crashed into a ford, eventually stopping both cars on a grassy shoulder.
A passenger, identified as a man who was sitting in the front seat of a Mazda car, died at the scene. Another man who was in the car was taken to HCA Florida Ocala, officially known as Ocala Regional Medical Center, in serious condition. Officials said a third person, identified as a woman, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition.

FHP officials said the women were driving the men to work in Ocala.
The driver of the Ford F-150, a 61-year-old woman from Williston, was treated at the scene by medical personnel and was not seriously injured, officials said. FHP soldiers said that the woman donated blood, which is typical in accidents involving serious injury or death.
