New Business Promises Homeowners With Floor-to-ceiling Garage Transformations – InForum

FARGO – There’s been a finished garage floor on Lisa Christianson’s wish list ever since she and husband Mike bought their South Fargo home eight years ago.

Word moved to the top of the list recently after Christianson started working from home.

She recalls on Monday, June 20, “Now that I work from home and see the garage so much more, I said, ‘It’s time. Let’s do this.”

Dave Reek, local franchisee Hello Garage, and his crew finished their deck on Tuesday, June 14, and Christiansons are ecstatic.

“It just makes a world of difference,” Christianson said. “Driving in, it really is an aha moment.”

Her only regret: She wishes she had bought some of the garage organizational products Hello Garage sells.

She said, “We already have some storage units built, so we didn’t. I wanted it!”.

Polyaspartic vs Epoxy

Reek recently launched Hello Garage here after spending months researching various franchise opportunities online.

He was looking for a change after working for 16 years as an orthopedic sales representative for companies like Zimmer Biomet, which makes hip and knee replacements and other medical devices. Rick was tired of life on the road and felt there wasn’t much room for progress. Supply chain problems were also a factor.

“I quit my last job because it was up to me to make sure the implants were ready (for surgery), but I was just sitting there waiting for Fed Ex. That’s why I wanted to find something for myself,” Rick said.

This self-proclaimed DIY-er did projects like remodeling the kitchen and basement, but didn’t really want to work inside people’s homes full time.

This was a major reason he settled at Hello Garage. Rick was also drawn to the franchise’s focus on education and customer service.

Hello Garage specializes in multifaceted finishes for garage floors as well as storage systems.

Explain the science and benefits behind using multi-sided Halo Garage paint versus epoxy in garage floors.

“With epoxy, the particles are bigger than they are in polyaspartic. And when they hit the concrete, they spread out. It looks very nice from the top, but microscopically from the side it doesn’t seep into all those cracks. So, when water becomes a problem from the bottom or top it can to cause havoc.”

“Epoxy can be really brittle,” he continued. “If something falls on it and isn’t supported, it will crack. Once it cracks, it’s finished. Epoxy is good indoors in a more controlled climate with less temperature change and water issues.”

Hello Garage recently finished this garage floor of a home in Casselton, ND, with a polyaspartic flooring paint.

Hello Garage also offers a Lifetime Warranty for Finishing, which is implemented in five steps:

  • The floor is equipped with an industrial grinder.
  • Repair of cracks and surface damage.
  • A colored base coat is applied.
  • Decorative flake is applied to the surface.
  • A transparent top layer is applied.

Christiansons were delighted with the quick turnaround time. They were able to walk on the garage floor within 24 hours and drive on it the next.

Hello Garage also sells and installs slat walls, track systems, and accessories to help homeowners organize their garage.

Customizable organizational systems include heavy-duty frames, shelving, mounting plates, work benches, landing areas, cabinets, garage heaters, vacuum systems, lighting systems and more.

Rick said customer service is where Hello Garage shines. The franchisee provides a bidding program through which it works with clients so that they know the exact cost of a project.

Christianson said she would highly recommend this experience.

Lisa said, “I love it and am so glad we were able to work with Dave. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything and take all the measurements, which is really cool.” “If we ever move, we’ll need Dave to come over and do the flooring of our new garage.”
