- New Audi Q5 SUV Spotted
- Updated stylish design
- Gasoline, diesel and hybrid electric engines are expected
- For sale in 2023
- Prices expected to start at £50,000
The revamped Audi Q5 SUV has undergone testing and is supposed to go on sale in 2023.
This variant of the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLC is expected to be offered with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid electric motors.
The new Audi Q5: the design
These photos are the first time the new Audi Q5 has been caught on camera but it hasn’t been fitted with as much camouflage to hide its all-new design.
For example, it looks as though this Q5 will still carry the massive Audi grill up front. You can also select some lower air intakes and new slim LED headlights.
The overall ratios don’t look like they would be much different from the outgoing car. This prototype has the same box shape as the Q5 today.
The more agile Audi Q5 Sportback may come at a later date. You’ll be able to distinguish it from the standard car thanks to the coupe-like roofline and redesigned rear end with new brake lights.
The circular taillights on this prototype were likely just test units to hide the full-width light strip. This will likely look similar to that found in the Audi Q4 e-tron electric car.
The new Audi Q5: engines
There is no word on what engines will be available in the new Audi Q5, however Audi has said it will continue making diesel models until 2025 so there may be different diesel variants on offer.
It is very likely that the new Q5 will be offered as a hybrid, in addition to the usual petrol options.
The Audi SQ5 sports car could also be on the cards, but you’ll have to wait a bit after the standard car goes on sale to get one of these high-performance models.
The new Audi Q5: interior and infotainment
No photos have emerged of the new Audi Q5 cabin, however you can expect to take inspiration from the latest cars in the Audi range.
If the Q4 e-Tron is anything you want, the new Audi Q5 gets two large screens and a multi-layered instrument panel with plenty of glossy trim to liven up the space.
The new Audi Q5: price and release date
The new Audi Q5 is likely to be launched at the beginning of 2023, with sales starting in the second half of the year.
As for the price, it’s too early to tell. You can expect it will cost more than the current Q5, somewhere around the £50,000 mark that seems likely.
