Man charged with aggravated assault, battery for threatening teen, striking officer – Chicago Tribune

The following items were taken from area police reports and releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Arrest

Martiz Owens, 28, of the 1000 block of North Menard Avenue, Chicago, on May 11 was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery to a police officer after threatening a 16-year-old with bodily harm at the CTA Blue Line station, 720 S. Austin Blvd., police said. Owens struck a police officer while being detained.

Maurice Williams, 46, of the 300 block of South Central Park Avenue, Chicago, on May 11 was charged with felony theft for taking two iPads from a business in the 1100 block of West Lake Street, police said. He also was charged with felony theft and forgery for taking two iPads and a Chrome book from Fleet Feet, 102 Marion St. When he was placed under arrest, police found him in possession of six counterfeit $100 bills.

Christopher Cielocha, 23, of the 900 block of South Boulevard, Oak Park, on May 10 was arrested and charged on complaints of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property for an incident that took place May 4 in the area of the 100 block of Oak Park Avenue, police said.

Pianche Guidry-Watkins, 32, of the 1000 block of South Humphrey Avenue, Oak Park, was charged May 10 with violating an order of protection and aggravated battery to a police officer after he spit in the arresting officer’s face while in custody, police said.

Attempted armed robbery

An offender on May 6 walked into Walgreens, 811 Madison St., at 11:27 p.m., displayed a handgun from his pocket and demanded that the cashier open the register. The manager came out to see what was happening, and the offender again pointed the gun at him demanding that he open the cash register before he ran out of the store. No money was stolen.

Burglary

A garage door opener was reported stolen May 8 when someone broke the front driver side window of a 2020 Nissan Rogue, parked in the 1200 block of North Taylor Avenue, and took the item from the visor. The offender then gained entry to the garage and stole a set of golf clubs and a specialized hybrid bicycle and helmet. Estimated loss was $1,925.

Burglary to motor vehicle

Someone, on May 10, gained entry to an unlocked 2015 Nissan Rogue parked in the 200 block of North Kenilworth Avenue, ransacked the interior and stole two pairs of sunglasses. Estimated loss was $400.

Two pairs of sunglasses, a car charger and cash were reported stolen May 10 from an unlocked 2018 Subaru parked in the 800 block of Erie Street. Estimated loss was $410.

A bag containing clothing, an ID card and an iPhone 13 Pro was reported stolen May 3 when someone broke the passenger side window and stole the item from a 2019 Hyundai Accent parked in the 100 block of South Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss was $1,550.

Criminal damage

Four tires were punctured and numerous cuts were made to the front driver and passenger seats on a 2007 GMC Envoy parked in the 00 block of Division Street. Estimated damage was $800.

Recovered stolen vehicle

A 2021 Toyota RAV 4 that on April 30 was reported not returned to Enterprise Rental, 25 Chicago Ave., was recovered May 10 by Cape Girardeau, MO police.

Theft of packages

A box of diapers on May 6 was reported stolen from outside the front door of a home in the 600 block of North Harvey Avenue. Estimated loss was $47.29.

Three packages containing books, toiletries and toys on May 6 were reported stolen from the front porch of a home in the 300 block of South Euclid Avenue. Estimated loss was $300.

Theft

A Schwinn Caliente bicycle locked to the fence of the south side of the lot at Pete’s Fresh Market, 259 Lake St., was reported stolen on May 7. Estimated loss was $600.

A plastic playhouse was reported stolen May 6 from the front yard of a home in the 900 block of North Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss was $100.
