Jaguar Classic showcased the bespoke Jaguar E at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee competition on June 5, 2022. The one-off refurbishment features an extensive list of improvements made by the expert technicians at Classic Works, and Union Jack-inspired metallic blue paintwork.

The unique E model debuted alongside fifteen iconic Jaguar cars to be showcased at the Jubilee Pageant competition, including a selection of historically significant Jaguar Es, the all-electric I-PACE eTROPHY race car, and seven convertible Jaguar cars all carrying famous ladies . The client, who was happy to participate, was joined by the American dancer, model and fashion designer Eric Underwood in the passenger seat.

Jaguar Classic creates beautifully crafted electronics by returning the Series 1 models to their original specifications. This bespoke example goes further, showing the full range of customization available in his modern Coventry home.

The only E model was commissioned by a customer with specific requirements. He wanted a roadster that was built the year he was born and finished to a custom specification. The team at Jaguar Classic began working and tracking down a Series 1 E-type that was built just two days after the customer’s date of birth.

Over the next 12 months, the car underwent a complete renovation, starting with the bodywork. Finished with Union Jack’s unique blue-inspired metallic blue, the new blue was exclusively blended by the paint shop after numerous consultations and sample creations to craft the perfect color over several months.

The bespoke interior features stunning leather upholstery finished in shades of red inspired by iconic British chests, and hand-finished using traditional methods at the Jaguar Classic Works interior.

“Being able to bring a customer’s vision of their E-Type dream to life is extremely rewarding,” said Stephen Hollis, Detailed Principal Architect, Jaguar Classic. “The result is a complete one-off experience that showcases the full range of possibilities offered by the Jaguar Classic team. With a Union-inspired color scheme Jack, I can’t think of a better place for him to debut than Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant. I’m so excited to see him at the mall.”

With body assembly and paintwork complete, the engineering team went to work refurbishing the mechanical elements – including a range of improvements. The original 4.2-liter engine was replaced in succession with a larger 4.7-liter engine, providing superior performance. Optimized for road driving and compatible with the Jaguar Classic’s specially developed five-speed gearbox, it delivers a smoother, quieter and more refined driving experience.

Enhanced suspension ensures the chassis can exploit the performance offered by its powertrain, while upgraded wheels, wider tires and brakes provide superior grip and confidence. The sport exhaust and manifold ensure that the E-type’s sound matches its dynamic character.

New technologies include the 21st century connectivity provided by the classic infotainment system – which combines touchscreen controls, satellite navigation and Bluetooth with a period look that perfectly matches the rest of the vehicle. Powerful exterior LED lighting also brings illumination to modern standards for more confident nighttime driving.

Complementing the car is a series of custom details, including a unique dashboard and dashboard. Additionally, this one-of-a-kind blue E-type features some elements inspired by the E-type 60 Limited Collection.

The new owner said: “I wanted a classic E Model that can be relied on for everyday driving and the comfort of Grand Tours while maintaining the authenticity of the original – and I was astounded by the results. I got a sense of the history and knowledge when you enter the Jaguar Classic Works facility and even after several visits, I am still excited to be at the The building. I am very proud of the car that the passionate team created there, and I am delighted to be a part of its story.”

While most of the project was bespoke, some items are available for all Type E owners to purchase and take advantage of. These features include the Jaguar Classic’s specially developed five-speed gearbox and its classic infotainment system. The five-speed gearbox was originally revealed on the E-type 60 range and is available for purchase through the dedicated Jaguar Classic Parts team. Not only does the Type E give additional usability and comfort, but its installation does not require cutting, so the car does not lose its integrity.
