Although a lot about this concept car is not yet known, here’s a hint of what the specs will look like.
The Audi A6 E-Tron will be offered in three variants: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Of those, the first model has a single-motor rear-wheel drive (the only other RWD model except the R8), while the other two are expected to have two-motor all-wheel drive. However, all models will have the same powertrain, which will run on a 100 kWh battery and offer an extraordinary range of 435 miles. The engine system will give an output of 476 horsepower and a maximum torque of 590 pound-feet of torque.
The E-Tron may also have a two-speed automatic transmission like its predecessor, the E-Tron GT. The car would have a 0-60 mph acceleration time of about 7 seconds in the RWD model, while the AWD version would be much faster, achieving the same feat in a steady 4 seconds. The battery and range of the car may be slightly lower than the Mercedes EQS, but the charging speed gives it an edge over its competitors.
The A6 E-Tron’s battery and charging mechanism seem really cool. First, the vehicle is compatible with a household 220V AC source and also a 270kW ultra-fast DC charger. The latter can fill the car to run 186 miles in just 10 minutes, which is five minutes faster than the current record holder for this scale, EQS. Moreover, the car can charge from 5% to 80% in 25 minutes with a quick DC charge. This is an impressive feat and largely throws down the downtime on long trips.
Above all, the car looks great from the outside and has some amazing features that enhance the performance of the car while beautifying it at the same time.
Comfortable cool design
Unlike the gasoline-powered A6 sedan, the A6 E-Tron hides the hatchback in the sloping rear roofline, giving buyers plenty of cargo space similar to that of the current A7. The car has enough interior space for four adults to move around comfortably. This is achieved by subtly placing the foot garage, which acts as gaps in the battery pack to accommodate the feet. This also allows the A6 E-Tron to have lower ground clearance for improved stability and control. This lower configuration makes the front grille positioning a little lower, too. This grille is empty and has wider air intakes to provide better battery cooling.
The car has an excellent suite of features that make it aerodynamic, quieter and keep the batteries cool more effectively. The body is painted in an all-new “Helio Silver” paint, which reflects sunlight and keeps the interior cool. This also reduces reliance on the climate control system, and the fan can run at lower speeds without compromising cooling, thus obtaining a quieter cabin. The outline and two-corner side skirts make the car highly aerodynamic and achieve the second lowest drag coefficient in the world, which is 0.22 cd.
The car looks elegant on the outside and is complemented by a host of great features on the inside.
Unique technology platform
Audi still keeps the car’s interiors secret, but it can be safe to assume that it will be heavily inspired by the look and feel of the E-Tron GT. The car is supposed to have a sporty interior with two infotainment screens. The A6 E-Tron is also expected to have premium materials and mood lighting technology like all other recent Audis.
But the outward appearance is where the real fun lies. Car side mirrors can be replaced with more modern rear view cameras. The A6 E-Tron will also have a full-length taillight with Audi illuminated rings in the center for added styling. Each door will have small projectors that will display signs on the road to guide the driver and everyone around the vehicle. The headlights have a projector on each side, which will work with the steering to signal the turn to fellow drivers. All lighting fixtures will receive upgrades from a three-row OLED matrix setup that will create creative patterns.
These headlights will also double as projectors that the owner can use to play games while projecting their screen onto a suitable surface. Currently, Audi only has one toy but other entertainment features are soon expected to be added to maximize the usability of this unique piece of technology.
The Audi A6 E-Tron will indeed be a piece of art, and for that reason, it will also be priced like one. The premium model is expected to cost $80,000, while the other two models will cost around $10,000 in their own flannel case.
