Comparison between the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro and the Chevrolet C8 Corvette in 2022:
- With either a V6 or a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is noticeably slower than the C8 Corvette.
- Although the V8s share capabilities, the Camaro SS/LT1 isn’t nearly as fast as the C8.
- Although the Camaro 2023 gets the LT2 V8 engine from the C8, those results may change
Chevrolet no longer sells many passenger cars in the United States, but high-performance cars make up most of the rest. And despite shrinking sales numbers, the Chevrolet Camaro is still running in 2022. However, while the current Camaro is surprisingly sporty on the off-road, the C8 Corvette is a full mid-engine sports car. So, if you want the Bowtie brand to blow your doors, which Chevy should you drive?

Unfortunately, the 2022 Camaro Turbo and V6 are not available in 1 pound track-ready form. But the Camaro’s less expensive – and more efficient – rims aren’t exactly slow. The V6 model, for example, is more powerful and weighs more than 300 pounds less than its fifth-generation predecessor. And with less weight on the front than the SS models, the 2022 Camaro Turbo and V6 convert with more passion. Although it also helps that they are more than 200 pounds lighter than the SS models, car and driver Notes.
However, on paper and IRL, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro Turbo and V6 isn’t nearly as fast as the 2022 C8 Corvette. Besides a much faster 0-60mph time, the 2022 Corvette also has a much faster 5-60mph time than the Camaros. The C8 does it in 3.5 seconds while the stick-shifted Camaro V6 and Turbo need 5.7 and 6.2 seconds respectively, car and driver reports. Additionally, the 2022 Corvette runs ¼ mile faster and finishes at a higher trap speed.

Although the C8 Corvette is one of the few V8-powered coupes on sale in 2022, it’s not the only one from Chevrolet. If you want the latest version of the powerful classic car formula, look no further than the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro and SS. And while the C8’s LT2 differs from the Camaro’s LT1, the last V8 is a Corvette. Specifically, the C7 Corvette engine.
Admittedly, the LT2 V8 is based on the LT1 but has a dry lubrication system, redesigned camshafts as well as many different intake heads. All combined with improved airflow in the mid-engine position explains the C8’s extra horsepower and torque, car and driver Says. This mode also moves the mass back, which enhances traction on the steering wheel.
The extra drag with more horsepower and less weight explains why the 2022 C8 Corvette is faster than the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro. And not only from 0-60 or at ¼-mile, but also in 5-60 tests. Additionally, the C8 comes standard with launch control, which is optional on the Camaro SS.
What about the 2023 Camaro?

In short, at least without the help of forced induction, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro isn’t quite as fast as the C8 Corvette. But that may change next year.
As the Camaro gets an electric replacement, it looks like Chevy wants to send its powerful car abroad. Or rather, many explosions, because some claim the 2023 Camaro gets the LT2 V8 from the C8. As mentioned earlier, some of the C8’s horsepower and torque gains come from its position inside the car. So, if the 2023 Camaro gets an LT2, it might not produce the same amount of horsepower.
However, if these rumors are true, the duel of the Camaro and Corvette could have a different winner in 2023.
