The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is also a complement to the rear-wheel drive high-powered sports sedan. Before Blackwing ever smoked its rear tires, the Cadillac CTS-V was attacking M and AMG. And while the second-generation station wagon is in high demand, its sedans and coupe siblings are often surprisingly affordable. Case in point, this week’s Cadillac CTS-V sedan was listed in Cars and Bids.

When Cadillac introduced the first-generation CTS-V in 2004, the idea of a Cadillac sports car was a bit ambivalent to some. Skeptics were quickly proven wrong, though, thanks in large part to the C5 Z06-derived V8 engine and its manual condition only. But this is the second generation model, launched in 2009, that really showed that Cadillac wasn’t kidding. It’s also the formula that CT5-V Blackwing proudly uses.
Like the first generation model, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V has a Corvette engine. Only in this case, it’s the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the C6 Corvette ZR1 and 2012-2015 Camaro ZL1, albeit with a slightly modified one. But 556 horses isn’t something to sneeze at, even today. And it was enough that the CTS-V was for a while the fastest production sedan around the Nürburgring – on stock tyres, Car Bibles Says.
The second-generation Cadillac CTS-V also made that performance easier with an optional automatic transmission. Although heavier than the manual model, it is faster to 60 mph. The 2009 CTS-V automatic accelerates faster than the contemporary BMW M5 as well, including a ¼ mile. Oh, and that Nürburgring record? Registered automatic sedan.
But the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V isn’t just a storm car. Like the first-generation car, it had Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential, and several suspension and chassis updates to the standard CTS. On top of that, Cadillac reinforced the differential, rear subframe and driveshafts to eliminate the tendency for axle jumps in the first-generation car. Additionally, it has second-generation versions of General Motors’ trick magnetic shocks.
As a result, the 2009 CTS-V is a real blast to drive on winding roads. Admittedly, its steering is numb to the touch, but it’s accurate and well-heavy. Plus, that supercharged engine bomb is surprisingly refined and linear, CB Notes. But thanks to magnetic shocks and a comfortable interior, you can easily drive this car every day. In short, it is a true luxury sports sedan.
Modified example ready to grab Cars and Bids Immediately
In addition to standard performance and luxury features, Cadillac introduced the 2009 CTS-V with a few optional features. The sedan is currently listed on Cars and Bids Some of these options are in addition to some modifications.
From the factory, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V sedan has ventilated, power-adjustable front Recaro seats and performance metal pedals. It also has GPS navigation, HID headlights, a Bose audio system, rear parking sensors, and a dual sunroof. Besides the magnetic shocks and Brembos mentioned earlier, the CTS-V has transmission oil and transmission coolers as well as a supercharged intercooler.
As for the mods, this car rides on 19-inch Forgestar F14 Bronze Burst wheels and has aftermarket grille inserts. However, the performance-related mod list is more extensive:

The seller claims the modifications push the 2009 CTS-V to 600 horsepower on a “conservative tune” with an E70. But you can run this car on 93 octane gasoline just fine. In addition, despite the modifications, this car passes Texas emissions.
Visually, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V sedan has some flaws. Its front bumper has some cracked paint, there are some rock chips and scrapes scattered around, and the front seat bolsters show some wear. Also, the Carfax report notes some minor damage from accidents, which is likely cosmetic.
But on the plus side, this car has just over 65,500 miles on the clock. The seller also did paint and seal corrections every year and changed the oil roughly every 1500-2000 miles. The oil was also analyzed. In addition to receipts from Dedicated Motorsports, the seller is including the original grilles with the sale.
Will a modified 2009 Cadillac CTS-V be a reliable sports sedan bargain?

As of this writing, a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan is listed for $18,000 with three days to auction. By comparison, the cheapest example of a stock with similar mileage on Autotrader Almost double the price. So, this is an approved user deal.
Since this is a used and modified luxury sports sedan, a prior purchase inspection is recommended. However, while the standard 2009 CTS has some notable issues, the second-generation CTS-V is a fairly durable car. Surprisingly, it takes good adjustments, Car Bibles claims. In terms of malfunctions, Recaro rattles are normal, while supercharger failures are rare and easy to catch. Some early second-generation CTS-Vs have wobbly differentials, but these can be remedied with an updated fluid swap.
So, if you want a Blackwing but can’t afford it, this sedan might be the next best thing.
