BIG NEWS – Subaru says more new electric vehicles will arrive in the US by 2025

Subaru has announced that it will accelerate its plans for all-electric vehicles over the next five years. The 2023 Subaru Soltera has been a hit with US customers, and the Japanese automaker knows they have to speed up production of the new EV model.

Subaru will not rely on Toyota to manufacture or help design all-new electric models. Subaru CEO Tomomi Nakamura announced Thursday that they will add a dedicated in-house electric vehicle assembly plant in Japan by 2027. A report from Automotive News (jointly) says Subaru will invest billions of dollars in electrics over the next five years.

Subaru is now ready to launch its new electric vehicles

Subaru will manufacture all-new SUVs for customers in the United States and other global markets. Nakamura said they are still thinking about the type of segment or models the upcoming electric vehicles will be in and have not provided a production capacity figure for the new electric car production facility. The AN report said it said they would start small with room to expand over time.

Subaru has been sitting on the sidelines, waiting to see what happens with the electric market, and is now ready to take a huge step forward in the development of electric vehicles. Nakamura said the electric car market has changed drastically, and US retailers are now ordering more new electric car models after seeing the success of the Solterra 2023.

“Two or three years ago, U.S. retailers weren’t asking about electric vehicles at all, but in the last year it suddenly increased,” Nakamura said.

What can American customers expect in the next five years?

By 2025, Subaru will begin offering its next-generation hybrid models based on Toyota’s gasoline and electric engines, similar to the 2022 Subaru Crossstroke Hybrid. Customers can expect Forester, Outback and Ascent hybrid SUVs by 2025.

Subaru could call the new hybrids e-Boxers, as they do in Japan, Australia and Europe. Subaru said it will invest $2.05 billion in new hybrid and electric vehicle initiatives over the next five years.

In addition to the Subaru Soltera EV 2023 compact SUV, US customers will get more new all-wheel drive models by 2027. Stay tuned.
