“Come on, Barbie, let’s go celebrate!” Well, we will try not to get these words stuck in your head. But considering the upcoming Margot Robbie “Barbie” movie, due out in a year’s time, don’t be surprised if the infamous Aqua song grabs your brain in the meantime.
More importantly, the only thing car fans might be wondering until the movie debuted was what kind of car Barbie would be driving. According to the official image released by Warner Bros. Looks like an electric Chevrolet Corvette.

The eagle-eyed reporter at Fox News picked the only press photo. They noted that the car that Barbie drives is similar to the 56-57 Corvette. That’s not much of a stretch considering that retro Barbie and Corvette go hand in hand like…well…Barbie and Ken.
But upon closer inspection, Fox News notes the Corvette has a “modern touch” that’s evident when you zoom in on the Chevrolet logo for the car. There is a blue “EV” in the logo, much like the brand’s upcoming electric vehicles and the charging door can be seen above the logo.
The release of the movie Barbie coincides with another one

According to Variety, “Barbie” is slated to release in theaters July 21, 2023. And while that future date leaves us with great anticipation, it also intriguingly coincides with the release of the all-electric Chevrolet Corvette hybrid.
Fox News Auto has contacted Chevrolet regarding the film’s vehicle. A spokeswoman responded, “Barbie and Corvette have a longstanding relationship and we’re excited to build on that in the Barbie movie. More to come on this and other surprises.”
This is somewhat ambiguous, however, and it actually makes us wonder what lies in store on the front of the movie for the movie. From what we know so far, Barbie will be driving her Corvette and Ken – played by Ryan Gosling – can drive one of a number of GM’s electrified cars.
Those vehicles include the Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV, which are scheduled to be introduced in the future. If it’s up to us, Hammer looks a lot more fitting for Kane.
Don’t worry, Aqua’s song won’t appear in the movie

Regardless of the cars, Aqua’s 1997 hit single “Barbie Girl” won’t appear in the movie, Variety reports. The band’s European director, Ulrich Møller-Jørgensen, simply told Variety, “The song will not be used in the movie.”
why not? Apparently, Mattel was concerned that the song’s lyrics were too suggestive and portrayed the character in a decadent light. The toy brand also disliked that the Ken doll character “dismembered” Barbie by accidentally pulling her arm out in the original music video.
It’s a shame, but that won’t stop the song from being stuck in our heads any time anyone comes up with a live flick in the future. Too bad we have to wait over a year for it to finally be dropped and quench our curiosity about what other surprises lie ahead.
