The Audi A3 is a compact sedan that offers luxury at a compact price.
As the sedan market continues to dwindle and manufacturers continue to flee the recently unpopular market, we know that the market for limited edition sedans still exists. With people willing to spend their hard-earned money, this category has historically focused on travelers. But, let’s not forget the high-end passengers who want the luxury and spacious cabins that only some manufacturers still offer. In this market, look no further than the high-end Volkswagen brand, the popular Audi and A3.
For 2022, the A3 has been given a redesign that includes just about everything from an aesthetic point of view. There’s plenty of legroom for the front passengers while the rear seats still keep their legroom small and compact as expected. Inside, we get to see a well-placed 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that calls the center console a new integrated gearshift lever. Additionally, we see regular tech features and a slightly darker brown Santos leather interior that looks really nice instead of the lighter-colored “camel” interiors. Our testers came with the Premium Plus package which contains a range of indoor and outdoor options.
The A3 is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder injected engine, which produces 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft. of torque. The 0-60 rev came in 6.3 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. It’s a compact, lively and exhilarating sedan that fits all genres, as the S-tronic’s seven-speed transmission with all-wheel drive got the job done with ease.
With our tester painted Manhattan Gray Metallic, the exterior showed up really well while still having some neat features. As a fully-framed passenger, the A3 was definitely fun, comfortable to drive, and easy on the eyes of onlookers. Its wide stance and oversized grill show a bit of its glam but its weakness on the ground made the look that much better. Riding on upgraded 18-inch wheels, it felt the sporty luxury that everyone would enjoy, while still maintaining the right price point for compact luxury.
