The car took off with the dyno, and the max they got out was 80 horsepower, which isn’t bad at all.
Looking under the hood
The RX-7 is an Austin product, and it’s up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Under the hood of this stunning vehicle is a 160 HP Arctic Cat 800cc twin-cylinder engine. A motor that Austin says is actually more reliable than the rotor that the RX-7 originally had. Austin hooked the car up to the standard clutch and five-speed transmission, and in fact all you do is get it in gear to drive in and out. There is no actual gear shifting while in motion, and third gear is the best gear for driving. You can shift on the go, but this is not recommended.
Austin says the car now has twice the performance it had when it was rotating. For example, the time from 0 to 60 is about six seconds, which is downright crazy. This is all about getting an idea and just sending it. Austin goes on to say that the car is so noisy that you don’t really want to take long trips in it, and we get that impression when Junkyard Digs go for a ride with Austin in the car. This is not an environment we really want to be in, it probably drives us crazy.
Get RX-7 Anti-Sweater
Junkyard Digs got the car on the scale, and it turns out to weigh about 1956 pounds, which is more than JunkYard Digs thought it would weigh. Incredibly, the car has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, which is frankly incredible. The car took off with the dyno, the max they got out was 80 hp which isn’t bad at all, although the rpm was insane, the figure was around 8000 rpm. Research has also shown that the engine is actually a 145-horsepower model, but overall, that’s one hell of a build.
