Dubbed as “Diamond Edition” in honor of Shelby’s 60th anniversary, this monster is expected to be a force to be reckoned with. Let’s have a detailed look at Classic Recreations’ Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra.
Classic Recreations’ Tribute to Carroll Shelby
Classic Recreations is a car business built by car people for car people. It all began in Jason Engel’s shop in Yukon, OK, about 15 years ago. For someone who fell in love with cars at the age of 12, and owned more than 100 Mustangs, Classic Recreations was all about passion for automobiles. He got together a group of technicians and craftsmen who love recreating and restoring built-to-order, trophy-winning, track-burning high-performance vintage cars and trucks for automotive lovers around the globe. According to their official website – from production line-up of officially licensed, carbon fiber-clad Shelby Mustang muscle cars to meticulous restoration of people’s dreams – the Classic Recreations team takes 2,500 hours to craft each vehicle with utmost precision and attention to detail. Their next project – Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra – will be a tribute to Carroll Shelby. Here’s what Shelby American President Gary Patterson said during the Carbon Fiber Cobra’s press release:
“What Classic Recreations has achieved with their carbon fiber program is the continuation of a dream Carroll Shelby himself envisioned for the future.”
Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing, Inc. Neil Cummings, echoed Patterson’s words:
“Classic Recreations has been a licensee of Carroll Shelby Licensing for over 15 years and each year they continue to innovate and push the envelope just like Carroll did himself.”
Classic Recreations Has Created An Off-Road-Use-Only Monster
While Classic Recreations is passionate about reviving the American dream – to have the finest American muscle cars and trucks dominate the roads again – the all-new Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra is not meant to be a street-legal model. It’s a high-performance variant designed for off-road adventures. At the heart of all the action is the 800 HP Gen 3 Coyote engine that works in tandem with the T56 Magnum 6-speed transmission and the VMP supercharger. The Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra’s performance is further propelled by the VaporWorx twin fuel pumps and the stainless-steel fuel cell. While its top speed and 0 to 60 miles per hour figures haven’t been made official yet, it is expected to top quite a few hypercars in the automotive market. The stunning monster will be carried by robust Forgeline Wheels and BF Goodrich tires. What’s more? It features independent rear suspension, a T56 Magnum Tremec transmission, and Wilwood 6-piston front and rear brakes. Once you are seated inside the Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra, you will be greeted with exclusive Shelby gauges and a custom console. The premium high-back bucket seats are a beautiful sight.
As Rare As Diamonds
The all-new Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra is rare. And we aren’t saying it for the sake of it. The production count of these “Diamond Edition” Carbon Fiber Bodied Shelby Cobra Race Cars will be limited to just 10. Jason Engel explained what makes the Diamond Edition so special:
“Carroll Shelby taught me the significance of pushing the envelope through innovation and passion. A dream of Carroll’s was always to place the highest horsepower engine possible in the lightest, most agile car imaginable, and it is our honor to have met that challenge.”
Engineered in autoclave-cured carbon fiber including the floor and doors, the Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra’s bodyweight of just 88 pounds is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. Your driving experience will be further enhanced by best-in-class technology and an extended cabin for extra legroom. The Diamond Edition is the brainchild of an elite team of designers and technicians under a new division of Classic Recreations. This new division of car professionals focuses on the research and development aspects of automobile making. Each of the 10 special-edition cars will feature a specially designed custom diamond encrusted badge. They will also feature Carroll Shelby’s signature on the dashboard. Additionally, each of these cars will be identified with a special CSX serial numbering. The first car will be labeled CSX4521 while the tenth one will be labeled CSX4530. Produced entirely in the United States of America, each Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra will come at a premium price tag of $1.2 million.
